Meet Jayne – The Upcycle Therapist

Hi, I'm Jayne, and I'm so pleased you're here.

For over 16 years, I've worked as a counsellor/therapist with both adults and children through some of life's most challenging experiences. Throughout my career, I've always believed in the power of creativity alongside conversation. Whether working with children through creative activities or helping adults reconnect with themselves in new ways, I've seen first-hand how making something with your hands can calm the mind, build confidence and create space to simply breathe.

I am a creative soul myself and art and creativity has been a big part of my own wellbeing and has been very much a part of my life too. I love an upcycle and what began as a personal creative outlet quickly became something much deeper. I realised it was never really just about transforming furniture - it was about transformation in every sense. Taking something that had been forgotten, overlooked or no longer loved and giving it a fresh story felt incredibly meaningful, and I saw so many parallels with the work I'd been doing throughout my therapy career.

That passion inspired me to create Paint It Bold – Creative Wellbeing Workshops, where creativity, mindfulness and sustainability come together. My workshops aren't about being artistic or getting everything perfect. They're about slowing down, switching off from the pressures of everyday life, trying something new and enjoying the simple pleasure of creating something with your own hands.

My vision is to build a welcoming creative community through a programme of seasonal workshops at Bents, giving people the opportunity to return throughout the year to learn new techniques, create different projects and enjoy regular time for themselves.

Each workshop is relaxed, welcoming and suitable for complete beginners. You'll leave not only with a fun transformed piece to take home, but hopefully feeling inspired, refreshed and reminded of just how good creativity can be for our wellbeing.

Whether it's your first workshop or your fifth, you'll always be welcomed with fresh inspiration, encouragement and plenty of opportunities to Paint It Bold.

I hope you'll join me on this creative journey, discovering how creativity, colour and a little imagination can transform not only the things around us, but sometimes ourselves too
